Library Fines and Other June 2017 Expenses

We experienced a LOT of unexpected spending this month. Well, I suppose “unexpected” isn’t the right word. More like “out of the ordinary” expenses. It was our first month living in our new house.  And there were a lot of things we had to buy – a trash can, a silverware tray, cleaning supplies, grocery staples to stock our pantry. As a result, a few of our categories ended up higher than what is normal“Library Fines and Other June 2017 Expenses”

A Movie Rental and Other May 2017 Expenses

Our house hunt finally came to a close this month. We did it backward – buying a house happened spontaneously and I highly recommend against that. Normal people save (and save and save!) before jumping into buying a new house – not us. And it drained our savings account. But I’ve never been happier to be broke in all my life. We’ve been homeless and living with my parents for the past two months. This means“A Movie Rental and Other May 2017 Expenses”

Old Debts, Credit Reports, and Other February Expenses

A sneak peek into one of the most personal areas of our lives – our finances. I struggle with sharing this with you each and every month. Money is the most-fought-about topic in the history of the world, I’m pretty sure. And it’s one of the leading causes of divorces! And even though our spending habits are very personal, I share them with you each month. Why? Because a wise man once said to me,“Old Debts, Credit Reports, and Other February Expenses”

Furnace Filters and Other January Expenses

I’m embarrassed to post our budget for January. (Please don’t judge us!) Do you ever have a month where everything is out of whack? That was our month last month. So many things went wrong. Please know we’re doing much better this month and even making more sacrifices to help make up for all the ridiculous that went on with our January budget. So, here’s the thing. Andrew and I both had unexpected medical problems“Furnace Filters and Other January Expenses”

$75 at Olive Garden and Other December Expenditures

Well here it is, a full week into January and the final numbers are in for our December budget. I have to warn you: it isn’t pretty. We overspent on gifts. (Doesn’t everyone?) The amount listed this month – $500.90 – isn’t even close to what we spent overall. I got tired of carrying around cash and had to order a few things online so I deposited what was left of our Christmas club account“$75 at Olive Garden and Other December Expenditures”

Our Monthly Budget Report for November 2016

Does budgeting ever get easier? I’m not sure. I mean, I hope so. That’s why we’re working so hard to get our debt paid off – that will free up money to spend on fun things! This month was another rough one. I suppose that’s to be expected with the first holiday of the season here: Thanksgiving. Plus, we had a few unexpected repairs and expenses that put our spending over budget for the month.“Our Monthly Budget Report for November 2016”

Our Monthly Budget for October 2016

The budget this month is rough. Andrew and I had to face some hard truths this month and we realized we got way off track with our money management.   It’s true. We failed at our budget. Big time.   They say the first step is admitting you have a problem. So that’s what we’re doing this month. We have a problem. You see, a few months ago, we switched to using an online budgeting“Our Monthly Budget for October 2016”
